Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo get into physical altercation amid social media comments

Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo and former Heat and current Milwaukee Bucks guard Tyler Herro got into a physical altercation on Friday in Las Vegas, Nev., where Heat big man “struck” Herro in the face, according to ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania.

According to Charania, the “altercation occurred at a practice court in a Las Vegas hotel this morning … starting when Adebayo approached Herro about comments the guard made critiquing the center on social media after their seven-year run in Miami ended.”

Herro spoke to reporters for the first time since getting dealt in the Giannis Antetokounmpo blockbuster on Friday afternoon, saying “it’s all love” in Miami.

Well, I guess that’s not the exactly the case.

Last week, Herro posted a graphic on his Instagram story about who has the lowest mid-range field goal percentage in the NBA, mocking Bam Adebayo’s percentage (which ranked as the 10th-worst). Not long after, there were DM’s leaked, where Herro, allegedly, critiqued Adebayo and his pay.

When asked for a comment, Herro said “my only comment is no comment,” according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Bam is projected to receive a suspension of 1 to 3 games by the NBA for his off-court physical altercation with former teammate Tyler Herro. Analysts are comparing this to similar off-court punch incidents (like Isaiah Stewart’s 3-game suspension in 2024), though the exact length could be influenced by the timing of the incident and Adebayo’s clean disciplinary history.

Really the World Cup has had some big upsets and intriguing games. But, the best games will be from the semi finals on. Of the remaining teams, four teams are far better than the ones they faced in the quarterfinals, France, Spain, England and Argentina. I’m saying this at halftime of a 1-1 game. And though Norway is one of the 8 best teams, they are clearly a little inferior to England and I expect the Brits to prevail. And I’m also assuming Argentina will win, which is not definite, but it’s likely. Anyway,,the next round, Spain vs France and the Battle of the Falkland Islands, should be compelling.

It was pretty obvious and that was my point.
But, there are some things I don’t like about the World Cup. And one of them is how the refs and the announcers appear to favor the best matchups for ratings. The red card in the Argentina/ Switzerland game, the VAR ruling when Argentina played Egypt, and a few other incidents appeared to at least make it seem like FIFA’s hands were on the scales.
But, the semi-finals, the first times superior teams are playing each other, should be worth watching even for us football fans.

Ok got it

I mean could be built up resentment from being teammates all those years. He gets a pass from me on this one because he’s not known as that kinda guy I was shocked even when I heard this news. Also got a little excited for the future storylines for bucks heat I admit selfishly

The Athletic provided the following details, writing, “According to multiple sources who witnessed the incident and were granted anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter, Adebayo walked onto the courts, and Herro said something to him. Adebayo proceeded to walk over to Herro and, without hesitation, punch him. Herro’s AAU coach confronted Adebayo, and Herro yelled at his former teammate while being escorted out by security personnel. Both players left the scene on their own.”

While everyone is being up in anrms about this situation. I actually like it for bam and the team honestly, teams will be gunning for them again so they’ll have to be tough. Hey, what better way to do that than to sock your former teammate in the mouth for his twitter fingers during the offseason.

vagibugi
vagibugi

Hitting your former teammate of half of your his size in the face in the hotel is not really sign of toughness.

Smart player would wait for a game day, hit 80 % of mid range shots, defend him well not letting him score anything, and put elbow in his face at the end of the game.

A visit or two at the dentist should stop him making more dirty comments about quality of the former teammates game.

I m disappointment with Bam.

Why do we do this constantly? So it was dumb of Tyler to talk shit then period. Mess around and find out where do you think that phrase comes from? And before you get to preaching. Everyone reaction is different to things. And everyone with eyes knows herro isn’t better than bam nor can he even breathe the same air as Giannis let alone be mentioned in convos with or about giannis.

There is a provocateur or provocation behind every corner.
You cant punch them all in the face.

A smart, confident player would smile and say see you on the court. Then ask your teammates to help when the time comes. After the game saying, that this is not the game for little boys.

That would hurt much more then any punch in the face.

I lean more your way, but understand both sides. Bam had every right to be angry with Herro for his stupid comments. But the reaction by Bam was wrong on more than just one level. The reality is it could affect the whole team if he gets a suspension. Not a smart way to start off. They need time to gel and build chemistry.

Damn I wish I lived in fantasy land with yall where people can do and say what they want and no consequences happen lmao. I just didnt grow up like that.

I was held accountable for shit I did and said when I was younger and also now that I’m older. That’s why I was never big on bullying because there is a consequence for that. Whether the person you bullied does something now or 20 years later that is a consequence for your actions. Which is what I told my son if you bully, pick on talk about anybody in that school or in life when you get older and they do anything to you ie beat you up or worse ☠️ you I won’t feel sorry for you. Now do I go around telling others to tell their kids what I told mines? No because others teach their kids how they want to teach them

Again we don’t know what else herro said or did to bam lmao. And who cares if yall are disappointed yall are the same fans that let this team run it back 6 times and stayed fans stayed giving your hard earned money too stop talking like yall aren’t gonna still be bams fans

“Something like that… kids will hit, because they are kids. 30 year old should be smarter.“

Again it’s another human being reaction not yours just because it’s how you would react does not mean everyone thinks like you or RC. Must be old ass men or something.

Suspended for what? Was it on nba grounds? Does bam has a history of being a bad guy? Was he provoked?

This the same fanbase that has a problem when bam doesn’t do shit like that on the court and when he be buddy with Tatum after the Celtics beat Mia this past season seen you definitely comment about not liking that but has a problem with this. Lmao make it make sense please

With the way the NBA treats the Heat, they’ll probably find some reason to suspend Bam—maybe three games, like Stewart got for his off-court punch

Reality Czech
Reality Czech

An issue does not need to happen on an NBA court for the league to take an action. It was not on NBA grounds. Bam doe not have a history of punching people out. Bam was definitely provoked. We will know soon enough if Silver takes action.

it will probably be internal disciplinary action like a financial fine or something like what happened to the Green-Poole situation but because this reportedly involved players from different franchises, the NBA could determine that it is more than just an internal team matter.

That said, there are also reasons why there might not be a suspension:

1.The altercation reportedly ended quickly.
2.Security separated the players.
3.Police were not called.
4.Neither team has announced disciplinary action yet.
5.Herro has publicly declined to discuss the incident

BREAKING: The Toronto Raptors have officially cancelled the trade to acquire Kawhi Leonard. The decision comes after the NBA ruled that Toronto would face potential future penalties due to an ongoing league investigation. Rather than take on those risks, the Raptors chose to void the deal, sending Kawhi back to the Clippers. Brandon Ingram and Gradey Dick will return to Toronto.

To think that Bam stood by Herro all these years, Herro’s name was on the trade block.

That the Heat drafted Herro out of Kentucky was not a coincidence.

I can understand Bam’s hurt, that this back stab came from Herro, whom Bam referred once in an interview as a brother.

They both need to walk their actions back, they may need each other again. This life is too short to hold grudges.

Bad look for Herro criticizing another players money, even in private, showing no solidarity. But even worse for Bam who is 10x the player Herro will ever be and shouldn’t be concerned with what Herro’s saying. Heat succeeded in their goal of trading an All-Star in Herro for an All-NBA player, time to move on. Let Herro say whatever he wants, he may average 25 on MIL next year and make another All-Star but the Heat/Bam are trying to win the East.

56 games played is Herro’s season average over 7 years. That’s enough to make All-Star, Norm did it in 58 games last year. And enough for Herro to be among the most important trade deadline additions next year for contending teams if the Bucks decide to move him in season. But the main point is the Heat turned Herro into Giannis, which was the goal (to not move Herro unless the return was an All-NBA player).

Herro can say whatever he wants, he’s an established player who trades insults with KD for example in game. But he is levels below Bam as a player, the mistake by Bam imo was to respond but it happens. Issue is now it’s the opening segment on sportscenter which isn’t good for a team that’s a legit contender, but it will blow over.

It’s the same contract, 30% of the cap. Wemby taking the Brunson special to save ownership money has nothing to do with Bam (and is anti-solidarity from a players perspective). He’s probably making that 5% back in endorsements. He should be making 35%, the max allowed in the CBA, and in a fair system – no salary cap – he should be making >$100m a year as the odds on MVP favorite next year.

Max style player doesn’t actually mean anything. Maximum contracts are just artificially low limits on wages set by the employer

And Wemby could win MVP next year without adding a single pound to his frame, he is the current favorite and almost won it last year already. An MVP talent and face of the league agreeing to the artificially low rookie scale max is good business for Spurs and management, bad for players.
