Evaluating the Golden State Warriors’ 2025 offseason:

Subtractions: Kevon Looney, Gary Payton II (free agent), Jonathan Kuminga (free agent), Kevin Knox II (free agent), Pat Spencer (free agent)
Re-signed: N/A

Hanifan’s outlook: The Warriors’ offseason feels largely incomplete.
I thought they were in trouble entering the summer with nearly 90 percent of their cap allocated to Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green. They haven’t done anything to address their depth — largely because they’re awaiting the outcome of Jonathan Kuminga’s restricted free agency.
Golden State’s worst-kept secret is that it plans on signing Al Horford — as well as De’Anthony Melton and Gary Payton II — when the Kuminga situation is resolved. It only has nine players on standard contracts with *checks notes* two weeks before training camp. Not great, Bob!
I can’t say I love its roster — even with Horford — although I do like what Melton and Payton add when both are healthy. The Warriors were incredibly sturdy when Green, Butler and Curry all available. But none of them are getting any younger. And given the current state of its roster, it’s hard for me to accurately assess their team.
Grade: Incomplete
