The Miami Heat extended their win streak to four with a 127-117 win over the Philadelphia 76ers inside Xfinity Mobile Arena Sunday afternoon.

This win marks their first four-game win streak of the season. They have not won four straight since they won six straight in March of 2025. It’s also the 8th game of 125-plus points after having just six of those games in 2024-25.

Norman Powell tallied a team-high 32 points on 11-of-18 shooting and 4-of-7 from 3-point range. He added four rebounds and a pair of steals. It was another excellent, efficient outing from the 11-year veteran, who has scored 30-plus three times this season.

Kel’el Ware had another monster performance, tallying 20 points and 16 rebounds — including eight offensive — in 26 minutes. He converted on seven of his 13 field goal attempts with two steals and one block.

Jaime Jaquez Jr. tallied 22 points and seven assists while Bam Adebayo had 18 points and 13 rebounds.

The 76ers were without star guard VJ Edgecombe and star center Joel Embiid, with Tyrese Maxey shouldering most of the burden. He wasn’t as efficient as he’s been for much of the season, though he still conjured together 27 points on 10-of-23 shooting and 5-of-14 from 3-point range.

Trenton Watford (19 points, nine rebounds, seven assists) and Jared McCain (15 points) were both impactful off the 76er bench. The biggest difference between the two teams was that Miami finished a plus-12 on the glass, including a plus-four on the offensive glass.

Sunday’s win was the first of a back-to-back for the Heat. They return home Monday — in Tyler Herro’s return — to take on the Dallas Mavericks.

Such basketball is the new direction of the league, and Heat are on the top of the game right now. I think this will also force the whole generation of older players to retire, including the likes of Durant, Curry, AD, Kawhi, Beard…. and quiter.

Miami’s offense is being called the modern day ISO and I am not surprise that we are using less screen than average. This style of play was first used or popularized by Memphis but did not stick since their star prefered pick and roll and I am glad that Coach Spo consulted wit Noah Laroche to learn and eventually make it his own . I can sees AD, Durant and Curry still benefit in this style of play but it will likely cause injuries for the former 2. Yeah quitter will not like this style since he preferred the old school iso. Even GS use two style of offense when Butler is on the floor. Their original style and the Butler style.

Run & gun offense was popularized by Mike D’Antoni in Phoenix a couple of decades ago. Although it was fast and exciting, the defense suffered. It was taken to the next level by the Warriors a decade ago.

What Miami is doing now is something else. It combines fast play plus depth plus defense. Most offensive teams lack defense and most defensive teams lack offense. Miami has both, plus depth plus coaching. Sounds like a winning formula to me.

This is a game for young and skinny players. I dont thing any of those can keep pace in several consecutive games, like in PO.

In other NBA news, OKC at 17-1, Detroit 14-2, proving you can win with Duncan’s (lack of) defense if you have the right group surrounding him. Suns get rid of KD and Beal and are doing better this season. Have the Clippers fired anyone yet? The Powell trade disaster. Paying 2 supposed ss $39m and $50m for their 5-12 record. And, unfortunately, CP3 will retire without a ring.

Heat tied for third! My prediction of 45-37 is starting to look too conservative. And a 41-41 prediction can now be considered DOA.

Possibly, but not quite definitely. Could be some injuries. But, more likely another trade coming with Rozier issue, or from a surplus after all healthy. We could even have a deeper, stronger team later on. Things are definitely exciting, and looking up, but got to stay on that even keel you always talk about.

BTW, I am down for 45-37 before the season started too. I knew Ware could possibly bloom into what he’s become, and knew Powell was going to be really good though maybe I didn’t think this good, and the same is true of Davion. Bam is playing as expected as is Andrew. But, Pelle, Dru, and Simone have been happy surprises, and Jaime has been a revelation, taking an amazingly big step forward in his nonlinear development.

And, I swear I didn’t read your thread below calling Jaime a revelation before I wrote the same thing.

What have we learned so far this season?
Being optimistic is not being delusional.
Patience is a virtue.
Thankfully, as was suggested in this space, they didn’t waive Keshad to re-sign Thomas Bryant.
Davion didn’t slack off because he got paid.
Bam and Ware certainly can work together. And be very effective!
Jaquez has been a revelation.
Anybody who thought Riley ever lost his touch, was wrong.
This has been a lot of fun which I did think before the season began. But I had no idea they would look this good.

Optimism, like happiness is a choice. The chemistry and unselfishness on this team is an awesome thing to see.

Several players are developing and elevating their games right before our eyes. Ware, Jaquez, Mitchell, Larsson and Smith to name a few.

I admit I have been critical of Riley. I felt he mishandled a few situations over the past couple of years and if things didn’t improve, it might be time for him to retire. However, in retrospect, I see the wisdom of his decisions, most of the time.

Nobody thought this team would do this well. If they said they did they are lying.

I agree, this is a very entertaining brand of basketball which is rapidly taking the league by storm.

I am looking forward to this season. Its gonna be a fun ride.

GO HEAT!!!

But you were right about Riley. He did make some questionable decisions. And that’s okay. We praised him when he deserved it. The Butler deal, made within an hour or so before the trade deadline, was one we felt was fair value, while others thought we got fleeced. And the deals for Powell, Davion, and Simone were classic Riley magic.

Its easy to be harsh on management when things don’t go right. Remember, before this latest transformation, we were looking at a fourth straight play-in team or worse. I realize it’s not an exact science. All things considered, he’s made some very good decisions over the past few years.

I honestly love how this miami team plays, fast and furious. Norman is such a tough minded shotmaker. Bro had 9 fts just from getting fouled from the 3pt line. He’s a clear all Star like vagi said. I think Davion is progressively becoming the pure pg that we needed. He has elevated his game, almost 8 assists per game. Leads league assist to turnover ratio, this game he had his 1st turnover in 3 games, POA defender, made Maxey take 23 shots to get to 27 points. Also shooting 44 percent from 3, and Hella fast. Also it helps having dru as his backup, so that duo ain’t missing a beat. Larsson was off tonight, but still had assists, and took some charges. Ware was freaking MONSTAR from spacejam in the game. Rebounding and slamdunking almost everything on sight. His motor is improving, which is good to see, and the bam, ware combo is working. They had over 35 points scored, and I think 30 rebounds between the both of them. Lastly JJJ, I love the improvement from his game, he was looking like Kylo Ren with a headband using the force to pass out assists. He improved his playmaking and shotmaking. His midrange game also looks encouraging, and should help open up his game more. LETS GO HEAT! how’s this for a feather in the cap, Among many already bout30mane!!!!

I’m impressed! And don’t say Edgecomb and Oubre being out had anything to do with it when we didn’t have Wiggy. Nothing can diminish the quality of this win. I mean, the Sixers were there lurking and the Heat simply stood up to the pressure.

Shid we missing jovic and Herro also, this definitely was a quality win, we stood up to the pressure, and had the lead all game. We’re foreal !

Embiid out too.

Yes, I know it’s a little bit wishful thinking, but maybe Embiid can’t be considered viable to the Sixers efforts going forward. He may be done as he misses more games than he plays. If he ever does get healthy, he is amongst the best players in the game, almost unstoppable. But, how can Philly count on him anymore? And his salary makes him more of a debit than an asset.

Isn’t it funny (and definitely not coincidental) that Butler lost his joy, quit on the team, forced a trade, and we all ended up getting OUR joy back! 😀

Quitter and Golden State coach/players having issues. Apparently, he has “lost his joy” because he doesn’t like the fact his new team doesn’t play defense. Oh well. You can’t have everything.

Funny how the patient feels better after the cancerous growth is cut out. Thank God Riley didn’t give him the $110M. Heat would have been stuck with his whiny @$$ two more years.

Testify! Most agreed that he was unworthy of that extension while we also heard “he’s your ss, give him anything he wants.” We dodged a bullet there and now he’s the Warriors problem.

Advice to quitter: “Be careful what you wish for…you might get it.”

In order for the Heat to evolve, quitter had to leave. The team is so much better and so much happier since he left…and so are the fans.
