Miami Heat guard Norman Powell is done after one half of basketball against the Philadelphia 76ers with a right groin strain, the team announced moments before halftime.
Powell, 32, was listed as questionable before the game with right groin soreness. But he was able to complete shootaround and was made active moments before the contest.
He scored just three points on 1-of-5 shooting in 10 minutes, adding three rebound plus a pair of assists.
This isn’t the first time that Powell has dealt with a groin injury this season. Amid the ankle and back injuries he’s also fought through, Powell suffered a left groin strain in November, causing him to miss multiple games.
The first-time All-Star is averaging 22.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals on 47.5 percent shooting and 39.2 percent from 3-point range.

Looks like Powell and Wiggins may be history. Between them and Rozier, it should free up enough salary for Riley to pay Herro the big bucks and maybe pick up a scrub PF/C or two.
This could really hurt us. It will require Ty to start which will expose some of his defensive weaknesses more and could even impact on his offensive game as he wears down. The second team will also lose some firepower and spacing advantages without Ty. If Norman is out for any period of time we could be in for some serious trouble and the schedule gets a little harder in March.
