GAME PREVIEW: Heat to face Nets for second straight matchup to conclude homestand

Miami will look to sweep the season series 3-0 against the Nets to finish off their homestand. (Mandatory credit: Imagn Images)

After a dominant 124-98 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, the Miami Heat will rematch at home for both team’s second straight game.

It will be the final of Miami’s three/game homestand before heading on the road to face the surging Charlotte Hornets. The Heat are currently sporting a 33-29 record and tied for the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference (Orlando Magic own the tie-breaker). They have also closed the gap to just 1.0 game behind the sixth seed as this end of season playoff push continues. Every win and loss matters even more at this point, even if it comes against a tanking team like the Nets.

Miami’s previous win over Brooklyn was spearheaded by a balanced attack across the rotation, most notably in Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware and Jaime Jaquez Jr. That big man pairing of Adebayo and Ware made history in the process— becoming the first Heat duo to each record 20+ double-doubles in a season since LeBron James and Chris Bosh back in 2011.

Adebayo dropped a team-high 23 points and even record six steals on the defensive end; that number is tied for the most by an active center in the entire league this season. His two-way impact was on peak display, as the Heat outscored Brooklyn by 22 points in his minutes.

If Miami can get the job done again tonight, they will sweep the season series against the Nets, sweep their homestand and improve to a three-game win streak.

Scary team once he gets back in flow. Watch out Detroit and OKC.

We got this. The Nets are the dregs of the league. They play guys that we would leave on the bench. And, all the steals came from some of the most inadvisable passes you will ever see in an NBA game. I predict a very pleasant watch.

Time for the Heat to get down to business. No more trap games. No more playing to the level of inferior competition. No more taking the foot off the pedal when they have a lead.

The players need to bust their butts for the next 20 games and let the chips fall where they may.

That would be great, but I expect some problems tonight.

I hope not because going to Charlotte tomorrow on a B2B against one of the hottest teams is not a great setup. Need this W tonight.

I think they need to win both. If the goal is 6th, they need to beat the other teams fighting for that spot. There is virtually no chance of them falling below 10 the way the Bucks are going.

I expect a challenge from Hornets next, but losing to Nets tonight would be unforgivable.

It happens before. I have no trust in this team to be consistent.
