Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and other NBA stars react to Bam Adebayo’s historic night

None of this feels quite real, but we witnessed history on a random Tuesday game between the Miami Heat and Washington Wizards, just like all of us predicted.

Bam Adebayo now stands alone with Wilt Chamberlain and Kobe Bryant as the only three players in NBA History to score 80-plus points in a single game, with Adebayo pouring on 83 points on 20-of-43 shooting in the Miami Heat’s 150-129 win inside Kaseya Center.

He now stands behind only Chamberlain’s 100 points, eclipsing Bryant’s 81-point game with 1:16 left. And all came despite Adebayo being double- and triple-teamed by the Wizards the entirety of the second half after scoring 43 points in the first half alone.

As the madness went down, the world reacted, including Dwyane Wade, the greatest player in franchise history, LeBron James and Kevin Durant all reacted:

It’s beautiful to see Adebayo, one of the NBA’s best centers, garner the respect from his peers after putting together a feat that none of us may ever see again.

Bam’s been on a torrid stretch for two months. Over his previous 26 games, he was averaging 21.9 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals on 44.7 percent shooting and 55.9 percent true shooting. He’s been the Heat’s most consistent offensive engine, bouncing back after struggling with back and toe injuries.

After Adebayo’s historic night, it’s safe to say the former No. 14 overall draft pick will receive a little bit of a statistical bump.

Wilt. Bam. Kobe.

Last night, the Heat were without Tyler Herro, Norman Powell, Andrew Wiggins and Kel’el Ware. The team’s captain, Bam Adebayo, took the bull by the horns and carried the team to victory. His teammates saw he had a hot hand, so they unselfishly kept feeding him the ball. As a result, he scored 83 points, the second highest single game total in NBA history!

Everyone watching the game could see Bam’s teammates and the fans were all very excited for his accomplishment and felt fortunate to share in his once-in-a-lifetime experience. Even the Heat players who did not suit up for the game felt fortunate to share in the experience. By the end of the game, I could see the team bonding at an entirely new level. It is very obvious their chemistry is very strong and they are having fun! What a great group of guys!

I don’t know how this season will end. To be honest, at this moment, I don’t really care. Although I am optimistic about about what comes next, right now I’m more focused on watching the team grow and mature by the day and all the pieces coming together as a more cohesive unit.

I enjoy the team’s new fast paced unselfish style of offense (#1 pace in the NBA) while retaining its emphasis on defense (currently rated #4 in the NBA). This is what I had hoped to see all season long. Exciting, unselfish, energetic, fast-paced, quality basketball.

As I mentioned yesterday, I think there are very few NBA teams with a rotation and bench as solid and deep as the Heat (Mitchell, Herro, Powell, Wiggins, Bam, Ware, Jaquez, Larsson, Smith, Fontecchio, Gardner, Jakucionis, Johnson and Jovic).

As far as the ultimate outcome of this season, I will be happy if the Heat players give all they have individually and as a team. I look forward to watching them these last few weeks of the regular season and the upcoming postseason. I am also optimistic about how far their talent and determination will carry them. Let the chips fall where they may.

GO HEAT!

P.S. Bam’s scoring average is up to 20.0 ppg. Miami now has 3 players scoring 20+ ppg.

Still can’t believe I witnessed this all time 2nd best scoring game behind wilt live at kaseya. I didn’t think this would happen, but after he hit 32 in the first quarter, ik this game would special for him. Then I went on a quick lunch break, and seen him hit 62, then 70, then he passed kobe. The last five minutes felt euphoric, my skin had goosebumps with jittery, anxious energy, and everyone in the crowd was standing in awe. The arena was deafening with mvp chants of bam like this was a finals game or something. Definitely was surreal, I like to get high, but this type of high was an unbelievable feeling. Seeing his mom cry, then aja having the moment with him. Then the post game speech when everyone threw water on him. It all was a beautiful sight to behold. After this type of game his confidence is at an all time high, so expect his game will evolve even more. He is officially an all nba caliber player after this performance, even though he might have haters that said this was unethical, but that ain’t true cuz they fouled the crap out of will back then, but when ppl look back at history, they won’t be looking for how fts he made or attempted. I think we might have a burgeoning SS on hands fellas. I’ll leave you with one last thing. There was a kid who got to meet bam his idol, they talked, had a good time, and he shook bam hands, and the kid says he doesn’t think he will ever wash his hands again lol.

This world is still full of miracles. Even at the random basketball game which shouldn’t be too interesting. You are lucky man.

I would like to have a picture of myself, sitting in misbelieve with eyes wide open and stupid expression on the face. I would be less surprised watching aliens landing on my backyard.

Bam being banned getting defensive recognition, apparently decided to switch to get an offensive one.

That man (thought to be offensively limited player) just score more points in the game as all best offensive players ever lived but one.

When I checked the final score in the nba app and saw all our players with single digit score sheet or around 10 points max, but Bam with 83 I was sure the app had broken and the stat sheet just had some random numbers on it. No way Bam could have scored 83 points. I came back later to check whether they had already fixed the stats and only then I realized it was real. Crazy stuff! I still can’t wrap my mind around it.

Most people that take 22 3pts are going to shoot under 50% overall. Especially coming from someone not known to be a 3pt shooter. What the hell do people expect? Jeeze….

Still early…but punch his HOF ticket. Awesome to witness! Having his Mom there was the cherry on top. There will be a time stamp though…if he & Aja Wilson eventually have a family his kid will break his record!

I think he was going to have a tough time making the hall, but last night might change that.

Because the NBA has refused to DPOY him for various reasons, he probably won’t have the accolades. His scoring and rebounding aren’t really at Hall levels. He could get there through longevity or maybe if the Heat actually build a title contender, through winning.

Hopefully I’m wrong, but regardless, he’ll be enshrined in memories now. I won’t say we won’t see someone beat that number, as I’m old enough to have seen Kobe’s, but it likely won’t be anytime soon if we do.

Down 3 starters, it was an ethical 83

GSW also lost tonight and is currently picking at #12 and #42, the latter of which is going to the Heat. Good night all around

Miami acquired Golden State’s 2025 first-round pick (No. 20 overall) as part of the Butler trade. The pick was top-10 protected and conveyed, which the Heat used to select Kasparas Jakucionis on June 25, 2025. There is no other pick owed to Miami by Golden State.

P.S.
At 32-33, Golden State is in 9th place in the west, 1/2 game behind 8th place Clippers and 1.5 games ahead of 10th place Portland. Depending on their final standings in the regular season, if they make the playoffs, they would likely be in the 15-18 range. If they don’t make the playoffs, they would likely be in the 11-14 range.

The pick we’re getting from Charlotte is the better of GSW or Denver second rounders, both owned by Charlotte. So we will get the Warriors pick that is trending in the 42 range as 2015 notes. And now we have even more reason to root for Warriors losing.

Oops. My bad. Warriors lost again tonight and are 32-33. Butler is still bitchin that Miami did him wrong by not giving him the extension he wanted. Thank God. He’s out the rest of this season and is not expected until some point in the first half of next season. Riley and the Heat definitely dodged a bullet on that one. The team is much younger and is playing much better basketball since he left.

I mean I don’t think we’ll ever see a 80 point game where a team is running all it’s stars. Kobe’s game came with the likes of Smush Parker and Lamar Odom being his co-stars.

Bam didn’t have a ton of options tonight, down 2-3 starters, also missing the two most likely guys to back him up (Ware and Jovic).

Was Spo supposed to play Vlad Goldin 20 minutes?
