Less than 48 hours after a critical eight-point win over the Charlotte Hornets, the Miami Heat stacked their fifth-straight win, this time against the top-seeded Detroit Pistons, earning a 121-110.
The final score is deceiving; the score was closer than the game indicated. Heat led by as many as 29 points and were ahead by 24 with 4:31 left. Miami led for all but 2:08, when it broke a 2-2 tie.
From the opening team, the Heat defense swarmed Detroit, allowing them to shoot 44.4 percent from the floor and 29.7 from 3-point range. Miami forced just 11 turnovers, but scored 22 points in transition with 58 points in the paint, using its high-octane defense to fuel its offense.
The Heat were led by none other than Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro. Herro led the way with a team-high 25 points on 4-of-8 shooting. Adebayo had 24 points with nine boards and six dimes on 7-of-17 shooting and 4-of-10 from 3-point range.
Jaime Jaquez Jr. had 19 points, six rebounds and seven assists, while Kel’el Ware and Kasparas Jakucionis scored 12 points apiece. Pelle Larsson added 10 points with five boards and five assists in 33 minutes.
Miami entered the afternoon with a 17-22 record against teams with a record of .500 or better. Though it has now taken the series over the Pistons, and are winners of nine of their last 12.

That was a great win, and we demolished them pistons. Don’t blink now but we’re surging at the right time. Ik I wanted us to steath tank lowkey, but not anymore if we continue to play like this. pistons is a really good team, but there 3pt shooting is trash, so I don’t think they will hold on to the 1st spot. They would be a good matchup for us in the playoffs, if we meet. Our team getting hot at the right time, we just might be dangerous in the playoffs. Just got an extra draft pick, so we now have 2 picks for this upcoming draft. The future looks bright .
i need bam who is making most $ and our best player to say at end of game i got this.as of today that mentality is not there.we need a closer which currently we dont have but i believe bam is a very hard cover.and needs to be designated our anthony edwards sga donovan type closer and quit passing off to other guys make a play u have the ability just gotta want to do it.once u do it u might be our ss we desire.its there bam.ive seen it lately just not at end of games like the charl game u got ball last minute nobody around u and u were looking to pass immediately.come on captain
What we need is for Bam to continue working on and expanding his game. The consistency isn’t there this year because Spoelstra has been pushing him into the uncomfortable. But we can see it’s starting to pay off. I’ve said this plenty of times here, we aren’t a contender this year so the day-to-day results of the team are irrelevant this year. Player development is key and figuring out what rotations work together. Then you build around that.
Totally agree. We are not contenders, but some players improved dramatically this year.
Chill bro bam getting there slowly but surely, he hasn’t always been aggressive, but this season is different lately he been averaging 20 shots a game, which is unbelievable for him. He is only getting better. I get what you saying, if it’s last minute, and nobody around then shoot it. But this team plays unselfish like captain bam. He’s capable of being clutch as evidence from multiple game winners, but we have other clutch guys that are capable as well to finish like herro, and norm and wiggy when they comeback. Lately bam has been killing the 2nd half offensively and defensively, wreaking havoc, so cut him some slack jack.
I agree. Last seconds, down 2 points, needing an outside shot, I would take those 3 before Bam.
Want to continue playing the Nelly part.
for RC…Riley and Spo still sucks
14 more Ws road to 50 lol
There always has to be that one bad banana spoiling the bunch, lol!
Apple.
Yeah, but that’s the barrel. I wanted to use bunch and somehow apples didn’t seem to fit. 😆
And we have lots of bananas locally 😁😁😁
You got me on that one.
Yes…finally. Happy to enjoy the humble pie. We all can see it. The chemistry has awakened! Now…am ready to watch the chips fall where they may.
Don’t look now but we hot! Keep it going
Something has been missing in the comments over the last week or so:
Riley sucks. Riley has lost it. Etc, etc.
And, Spo sucks has mostly been missing as well.
If you ripped Riley & co for how they put this team together after the trade deadline, you should now give some credit for how Riley & co put this team together. This young core of Bam, Ware, Jaquez, Pelle, Dru, Mitchell, Kas, and Gardner, along with vets Wiggins and Powell, and the resurgence of Herro, has made this team fun to watch. It’s still early, and maybe they will crash back to earth, but they seem to be coming together at the right moment.
When all the pieces don’t fit together, the obvious people responsible are the management and the coach. On November 26. 2025, Miami was 13-6. By February 9, 2026, after losing 21 of their next 36 games, the team was 28-27 and a solid play-in team headed, at best, to another first round exit. Since then, Miami has won 8 of 10 games and is now 36-29 and fighting for a playoff spot.
Prior to this recent success, Miami has been a very mediocre team since the 2022-2023 season, when it went to the NBA Finals. In 2023-2024 and 2024-2025, Miami was a play-in team that made it to the playoffs, only to be eliminated in the first round. 4-1 by Boston and 4-0 by Cleveland.
There were many reasons to be harsh on Riley. Following are a few:
How he handled the Butler situationHow he has handled the Rozier situationHow he handled the Jovic situationHis failure to upgrade the roster before the 2026 trade deadlineHis failure to decide what to do with Powell and Wiggins before the trade deadline, thereby risking losing them both to free agency this summerUntil recently, Spo did not seem to be himself. He was making strange rotation decisions and was not making good calls during games.
For example, he didn’t play Ware enough and played Jovic too much. As another example, on November 12, 2025, Spo called a timeout in a game vs Detroit with 1.1 seconds left in overtime and the game tied at 121. This was after Jalen Duren tied the game with a dunk. Because the Heat were out of timeouts, a technical foul was assessed and Detroit won the game 123-121. This mental error demonstrated to me that Spo’s mind was preoccupied with something other than basketball. Most of us fans have been very frustrated by the team’s performance and we have taken it out on everyone, Riley, Spo, the players and each other. Its human nature. Unfortunately, losing builds contempt. I have no regrets about anything I’ve written.
I am excited to see the team playing so well. You, I and several others have seen the potential of the team, however, until recently we have not seen the team play up to that potential. I’m very encouraged to see the youth movement currently underway and the quick development of the younger players. It is very satisfying to see them play exciting basketball while learning and improving and having fun doing it. Right now, their confidence is off the chart. The team has finally clicked. The players are committed to embracing their roles and buying into the power of their collective commitments to winning and willingness to make sacrifices for the team’s success.
If Miami can sustain its current momentum through the end of the season, it will very likely be a playoff team. If/when that happens, none of the teams will want to face the Heat in the playoffs. Who knows, maybe lightening can strike twice or trice and the Heat may be able to claw itself back into an Eastern Conference championship game…or beyond. At present, Miami, Boston, OKC, San Antonio and Minnesota are the hottest teams in the league.
Time for all of us to keep the faith.
believe u had mentioned atlanta the other day.orlando had some nice wins too.so our division is getting tough, its been the weakest division for quite a while
Let’s go Heat!
My basic point was that the roster is exactly the one we had earlier when we were losing to the Utahs of the world. It has come together nicely. Some didn’t see the potential. I’m definitely not suggesting the fo has done everything right.
It took Herro’s return for the team to begin realizing its potential. Now I see a confident team that is playing exciting basketball and having fun playing together as a team. The team is now playing without fear of losing. Its not about me…its about we.
org finally realized niko sukd and bam wares a pretty good thing.healthy and fresh ty not too many better offensively in nba.jjj 6 moty possible all star selection.norm wiggy 2 solid good nba vets.dru and dav defensive demons and wizards(wata great album btw).who’d a thought a guy from sweden would be this good.still that ss away from meeting rc in july on bisc blvd.i think we can get to ecf.i dont think we have enough to beat boston.
Just to recap what I was looking for in the 11 games that began with the Hornets game:
Win 5 of the 9 games vs winning teams and the streaking Hornets.
Beat both Washington and Milwaukee.
So far, a great start with wins against the Hornets and Pistons.
They must beat both Wizards and Bucks in the next 2 games.
Having won the first 2, if they can win just 3 of the 7 against Magic, Hornets, Lakers, Rockets, Spurs, Cavs, and Cavs again, I would really start to believe they can go farther than I would have expected. That would have them at 7-4 in these 11 games and very possibly in the 5th spot.
I never thought I would say this, but the team seems to have elevated its game since Herro returned. I think he likes and is better in a run & gun offense than the slowdown half court offense they had for all the years the quitter played for the Heat
If the team can assimilate Powell and Wiggins without too much disruption when they return, Miami will have one of the most potent offenses and deepest benches in the NBA
This team is playing an exciting brand of basketball. How quickly things have changed.
I was wrong and you were right. What a win.
I think we all were wrong about this team. So far they have definitely exceeded my expectations.
I don’t know, I didn’t watch the games but according to NBA their pace has slowed down in the most current win-streak? So does that mean Herro is better in a run & gun offense?
The Heat is still among the fastest paced and highest scoring teams in the NBA. I think with Herro’s return, the team has incorporated the best of the run & gun and pick & role/screen setting offensive styles.
It seems to me they’ve been flowing into really fast PnRs, or quickly using a Pick when the initial dribble penetration sputters.
Kel’el seems to be more dialed in on resetting the possession with a pick.
What a statement win. Miami had 103 after 3Q against the #2 defense in the league. DET gives up only 109.6 points per game on avg. The whole Miami rotation played well. Good to see Dru Smith making a major impact these last two games. Miami has real depth at guard and wing positions
