There are multiple holes the Miami Heat must address after swinging a six-player blockbuster for two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Arguably the biggest one is 3-point shooting, with roughly half their shooting production from a year ago now either in Milwaukee or in free agency.
Assuming Jahmir Young’s team option is exercised and Andrew Wiggins ($30.2 million player option) returns in some capacity, the Heat have 10 players rostered with at least four spots to fill, and they could be in the chase for 10-year veteran Buddy Hield, according to Five Reasons Sports’ Ethan Skolnick.
Heat could pursue veteran sharpshooter Buddy Hield:
Hield, 33, has been one of the NBA’s most reknowned shooters since being drafted No. 6 overall in 2016. He’s shot 39.5 percent from deep in his career, including three seasons topping 42.0 percent, most recently in 2022-23 with the Indiana Pacers (42.5 percent, 8.5 3PA).
Last season, in 51 combined games with the Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks, Hield averaged 7.6 points on 34.9 percent shooting from 3-point range.
He is owed $9.7 million in 2026-27, though only $3 million of it is guaranteed heading into the summer. The original guarantee date was Thursday, though it was pushed back to an undisclosed date, according to NBA Insider Chris Haynes.
Why I would steer clear of Hield:
There’s the prospects that the veteran wing would come cheap. Theoretically, there are far worse options for the Heat to explore on presumably a minimum contract.
However, Hield isn’t a reliable rotation player at this stage of his career.
Hield didn’t see much opportunity on an injured, poorly-constructed Warriors team last season. After getting dealt to a surging Atlanta Hawks team, he barely saw the floor at all. He’ll be entering his age-34 season, and he’s regressed into a slightly above-average shooter over the last three seasons (37.3 3P%).
Heat need shooting anywhere it can find it, and Hield’s still an effective spot-up shooter. But when a player’s only redeeming quality is no longer elite, and he’s pushing his mid-30s, that’s telling.
Every move the Heat must make must be geared toward winning right now. Hield’s not a poor option, but not one that you can consistently rely on to impact winning at this stage of his career.

Heat re-sign Vlad to another 2-way.
I’m legit stunned. That being said, these contracts can change quickly. Now I’m looking forward to seeing him in summer league.
He really got no opportunity to show one way or the other what he could do. The only good part of that was it kept hfl barking about it all season long. So now there’s only 1 2-way spot left. Young and Keels are free agents.
What are y’all deef? I said Alec Burks. If you’re looking for a solid player on vet minimum with a good 3, he’s your man. Dude is a career 38.6% 3 point shooter.

But he’s like a Hield. 3 and nothing more. That’s why I lean towards trying to get minimums on a Hardaway Jr or Brown. Now as an end of the bench we need 3’s please break glass, maybe.
As an end of bench guy he’s a bargain. Play him if he’s hot. Sit him if he isn’t. Kind of like Fontecchio but cheaper.
A lot more smoke emanating about LeBron and son joining the Heat. Is there fire? Never say never.
It could happen. Wiggins for the James Gang sounds feasible. Anfernee may also be available on vet minimum. It would be the perfect place to get the playing time and exposure to restore his value. It would especially awesome if LeBron returns.
I do think we could get Simons for a discount, it will have to be on a short deal as he looks to build his value back up. My guess is $8-$10
sam pressi so good at navigating aprons lets joe and wiggins go just guys and keeps a diff maker in hartensHtein.spurs will be apron hell soon when wembys due for big $$$ with castle vassel and harper.due to,lgh
celts might as well trade tatum start over they got nothing now good im so happy .that giannis move set them back for years set us up for jewelry for the next 5 years
Don’t kid yourself. They are one trade away from going toe to toe with NY, SA or OKC.
celts actively trading brown good wont have to worry about cs anymore
Well, if rumors are true, it could be a sign and trade for Duran, which is nice for them, plus now Detroit gets tougher. So either way we’re going to have to slay two dragons just to get to the final boss.
brown and cade thats dangerous combo think boston sends him western conf team 2q.hes from atlanta dont discount them but hopefully not det.durens a limited player .joel anthonyish
Joel Anthony? Holy cow. Duran was about a 20-10 guy. Joel’s most points averaged in a season was 3.5 and best rebounding was 3.9. That is way off.
Davion’s nickname is off-night, hfl’s is way-off. 😆 (I couldn’t resist)
Ha! We’re already in mid-season form. Giannis already raising the effort level of Heat Nation.
he makes everybody around him better hope that will work for rc.2qs almost there cant have any jovic mip bank it posts otherwise would have been on all star p er.guy is the best player on the team hurt my chances on the all star post team i hope greek gets me some nice posts next year.
Just like my guy was Winslow and Yurtseven. One day you’ll catch on to the bit. No guac for you.
Side note: Saying Niko would be MIP is closer than saying Duran is just a Joel
Like a good sale…50% off?
duren btw not roberto the boxer.hes worked hard to improve his offensive game. bad comparison by hfl ive had to many rc punches to the post head.hes more on level of dwayne deadman lol.btw is he still alive?

Did somebody mention duran duran?
We’re hungry like the wolf for free agent news
Doesn’t do enough to put up with 34%, combined with age.
34 f that 2q
So that means you don’t want Middleton or Hardaway then since they’re both 34 also.
“Doesn’t do enough” as in those guys will give you a little more towards winning games than Hield contributes. Also, I meant his 34% 3pt. #Fax 😉
hes a jazz chisolm island guy might up his 3s a couple of tokes
Got it. Just coincidence that his age matches his efficiency.
rc thought age
I did. It fit. I stand corrected.
If he wants to shoot his age then we have to wait 6 years to sign him.
lol all star post. rc and i are waiting for da greek to help our posts
34% 3s heild rc i want middle and the holy one 4 sure no to 55
