Just realized. Why is Keshad Johnson not in the summer league roster?
Very good question. I didn’t notice that. I assumed he was.
maybe involved in a trade?
YAHOOOO! Charania reporting Mitchell is signing a 2 year $24 million deal with the Heat! GREAT NEWS!!!
To me, that is an absolute bargain!
hope he plays with the same intensity he did last year.he does get overpowered by the bigger pgs at times.but def a dawg.
I like the Goldin signing. I also like the Settle and Ballo SL additions. I hope both stick on the Skyforce.
goldin backup center will make team
What’s this Collin Sexton talk? Great backcourt partner for Herro, has one year left on his deal, but if they did that and signed Davion, Kas gets almost no minutes. Or it would mean they don’t resign Davion.
What if we sacked Tyler and went with Collin and Davion?
That sounds a wee bit loco. Tyler gets dragged here but he is a 6MOTY and an All Star. I’m not against trading him, but not to end up with that combo. I would need to know about possibly another player and picks.
I actually think having Tyler get off to another hot start would have him at peak value after last season.
Lonzo to Cleveland.
scores 20 lets in 20 ty needs to be traded, end of year injured or ineffective.ive had enough of him need a dawg not a pussycat
Then you definitely don’t want Sexton. He scores 15 and lets in 25. I think this rumor was put out there to pressure Davion into taking less money. If so, that is a very, very bad move by Riley. Very f’g bad!!!
I haven’t come across that yet. I did see wisps of smoke about Tyus Jones and Oubre. Although I’ve always considered Sexton an interesting player that Miami could get, I don’t think any of them are needed if we re-sign Mitchell.
Dude’s defense is worse than Herro’s. WTF?
Per StatMuse:
Collin Sexton’s defensive ranking is generally lower compared to other NBA players, specifically when looking at individual defensive rating.
Here’s a breakdown of his defensive rating over the years:
Tyler Herro’s career defensive rating is 113.4. In 2024-2025 it 114.9.
League average is 110.6.
Agreed, herro is the superior player, this shouldn’t be a discussion. Sexton is a sg in a pg body, he’s good sixth man, but doesn’t fit on this team as currently constructed. Plus we still dealing with our own version of sexton=rozier.
last year herros first year fg% above 45 sexton 1 year only below 45% sexton 3pt% better.pts herro19.4 sexton 18.8 guess herro superior player cause of his d.

I was wondering what is happening with Dru Smith, Josh Christopher, Isaiah Stevens and Alec Burkes. This is what I learned:
Miami did not extend qualifying offers to Isaiah Stevens, Josh Christopher or Alec Burkes, making all three unrestricted free agents.
Miami signed Vladislav Goldin to a two-way deal.
Miami extended a two-way qualifying offer to Dru Smith, making him a restricted free agent. The Heat can match any offer he receives.
I was/am still hoping Miami brings back Alec Burkes. Good guy, team player, sharp shooter, not too expensive. 3 years/$12M sounds about right (a little more than veteran’s minimum).
Right now, Miami has 13 players, not including Jakucionis and Davion Mitchell (who is a restricted free agent and can consider offers from other teams). Therefore, unless there is a trade to create an additional opening, there is no slot for Burkes.
If the Heat renounce Duncan Robinson’s rights and pay him the guaranteed 2025-2026 amount of $9,888,000 (saving $10,000,000) his cap hold will be eliminated. This will allow the Heat to use their cap space to sign free agents such as Burkes.
Otherwise, Robinson can be traded to a team looking for cap space relief which could then release him, saving $10,000,000. There are a number of players in the NBA who earn approximately $20,000,000 who could be trade targets in exchange for Robinson.
Teams with particularly high payrolls and Luxury Tax Penalties at this time who might be interested in trading for Robinson are Cleveland and Phoenix. Houston, Denver and New York are also approaching the second apron and may need to find ways to reduce their payrolls. Boston just fell below the second apron by trading Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis.
dunc at 20 any gm would be fired for that unless bf of owner.maybe okc can use him dont like repeat champs in bball only in hockey
At best Burks gets a 1 year vet minimum. He already plays older than his age and he’s 33 and brings zero playmaking. If you want him as a guy who can hit a 3 off the bench, fine. But I rather do something else with that money.
he can guard 55 cant
He’s Duncan 2.0 for 1/5 the price. Who else you gonna get for that kind of money…Kyle Lowry?
2qbn heat run on duncan.
did josh c and stevens get cut?
They are both free agents. Christopher is no longer eligible for a 2-way contract because of his tenure in the league. I don’t think there’s much chance of them signing him. He has shown flashes at times, and inconsistency at other times. Dru got a 2-way offer – he’d be foolish not to sign it because it’s doubtful anyone else would offer that. Goldin now has one and one is open.
rather have josh than pelle
Both 6’5 and 215. Hot take by you. It has been noted. 😛
bartles and james not opened yet
Damn, just looking at the label does it now. Lol
You are going to be very wrong on Pelle. He’s a future rotation guy who gives a little bit of everything on a rookie deal. Yes, please.
From the “I don’t give a f*k about draft picks” and “Flagg just looks to be a Duncan-like player “ (not verbatim) guy.
Josh too inconsistent, bad 3 point shooter (27.3%) and poor defense. That’s why he didn’t stick in Houston Rockets or Utah G League team. Jury is still out on Larsson. 33.7% 3 point shooter and better defender. Tough kid. Better fit for Heat Culture.
to confusing these rules glad we have rc in the house.what about stevens hes gone to.
Free agent. Eligible for a 2-way or to sign with another team.
i thought dru when he played was real good hes got more size than dav,
Yes and Burkes. I wrote a detailed summary about current free agent situation etc. earlier but am awaiting approval from the HHH Blog Gods.
I don’t understand that waiting for approval thing. I try to rewrite when I get that, eliminating quotation marks and other stuff
burks underused 55 overused.dru when healthy was very good.dude always gets hurt one more injury asta la vista.
I agree mostly, especially the part about dru, I hope he doesn’t get another season ending injury cuz that would be his last shot with us. That would be a shame cuz I like his potential. If he does get hurt, Kas will get more pt, stevens would probably be back on a 2 way, and slo mo will get more ball handling duties.
I like Dru too. I thought he looked to be the rarest of the rare, a GLeaguer who really belonged, could even start if healthy. His point guard abilities were real solid.
Let’s pray he overcomes his injury history 🙏
I agree. Hopefully, if they buy out Robinson they can bring back Mitchell and Burkes.
I hope they give Jacksen Moni a look.
The guy is a 6-10 sniper who’s also a great passer.
In my research of the guys going to summer, so far Dainja has the most Heat connections. lol. Started at Baylor(D-Mitch) and later Illinois (Kaspar). Lost out on a waiver for an extra year, which is more than likely due to being able to get one last giant bag before entering the uncharted waters of the NBA.
Pate and Lakhin still unsigned. Come on, Heat. Take a flyer on Pate. Bring some explosiveness to the transition game.
I agree with you on lakhin. A versatile 3-D big will be a great fit for us.
Pate didnt develop much,as a top level prospect ,which is again thanks to G league Ignite ruining another young hopeful. His shooting improves but a 40/28/58 for a guard is really bad.According to scouts, he looked lost in the nba combine scrimmage.
He have all the physical tools and with strict disciplne, mastering fundamentals and significant development, he can be nba ready but i dont think some of us will have the patience to wait and risk for him to bloom.
I think he was the perfect wing type guy to stash and develop. No worries though because he went to the freaking Knicks. Puke.
SSIII with the leg up. Interesting he’s kind of built like Durant. Calm down. I’m not suggesting anything, but very nice add to the summer league team.
Goldin = Hartenstine
That’s right. Do your magic Heat. Uhmmm that doesn’t sound right 😳🤔
what happened to heats second round pick rc and our #10 pick went katie by the door.this kasper dude looks like a decent assist guy but can he guard nba brothers.i think the combo of dav and dru is fine.kasper might slot into tylers position if ty is traded.no way he can guard quick nba pgs
Definitely a concern. I’m still not sure I agree that there was no other pick that could have served our needs better at #20. But, as a Heat fan, let’s wish Kaspar well. Let’s also hope there are other moves coming.
The guy hasn’t played one minute for us yet. I suspect neither of you have reviewed any film of him with the Illini or watched any interviews. Last draft, some here wanted Knecht over Ware. Ware turned into a very good pick. I had wanted Carter at the time but he was taken earlier. I don’t believe all the pundits are wrong. Be a little patient.
And if you think there was a better pick, name him or them now and let’s compare down the road. But don’t wait until a player turns out to be another Booker or Maxey and say what a bad job we did. 20/20 hindsight doesn’t count. A lot of teams missed on Giannis, Jokic, even Shai. You think there was a better player, name him or them now.
not a big college hoops fan only my canes.and they were terrible last year.i wouldnt know kasper from casper the friendly ghost.lets home this kasper is a little more noticeable than the og of caspers.i was hoping for a 2 way brother from chi town ny phily but got me a lithuanian.we shall see rc in 3 years we can all look at our posts and see who was right.meanwhile as of today playin city here we come.get kuminga demar carter the needle moves to east conf contender.the east is so weak now with a good gm it could be had,
Okay, but since 39 players were taken after Kaspar, it is likely at least a couple turn out better.
Let’s just say we all don’t know anything much as of yet.. Everyone, even the pundits, lean towards being positive at this time, so it’s very hard to tell. I wished Kaspar well, all you can do. But, I have already stated I liked Rasheer Fleming, of the players expected to be around #20, who went number 31. We can revisit this down the road.
I liked Fleming and also think he is going to be good. But this team lacks playmaking more than a 3&D guy. This kid walks in as the team’s best playmaker.
As noted, I liked Fleming too. I had no clue about this guy because I was only researching players ranked 16-30 and he was ranked in the top 12. At least you picked someone we can look at. Fleming, we know, is more athletic. But will Kaspar be the better fit? We will have an idea when we see both players get minutes. Hopefully, like Ware, Spo doesn’t wait 40 games to play this kid.
And with his fit that means making it easier for guys like Bam and Ware. Fleming will get his stats and be solid, but with this fit I think it means making everyone else around him better.
Yes, I am just not as gung ho on this pick, even if he is a decent player. If he turns out special, than I will be wrong. But, if you say, in which areas could we draft that could better address our needs? And take into account the myriad ways we could have gone in acquiring that player who fills a need better, such as moving up or down in the draft, trading our pick, etc., than I would rather we had done something else. And there are definitely players we could have gotten that seem, at least in my mind, to address those needs better.
I understand we are all trying to remain upbeat and hopeful but make some room in your range of possible viewpoints for someone to legitimately not be thrilled or maybe even questioning a GM whose record over the last two years has not overwhelmed. A 37-45 record is reflective of some roster weakness. I want to see the Heat fix it and I remain hopeful, but a little skeptical, tbh.
This roster has a lot of holes, and this trade didn’t fix any of them. Even more, if Spo will play a rookie a lot as point guard, things can get even worse.
Still, that was the right move. Point guard position is the most important position within the team, and Heat played last season without one most of the time. And if you are not Niko Harrison or that bozo from Portland, you wont trade your point guard.
We need to be patient and take this year as a learning year, next year as a year of ascending, and the year after that as contending year.
I m sure that contending team will be much different than current. Bam, Ware, Kaspar, maybe Jovic and Mitchell will be on that team, nobody else.
Love the timeline and agree. This season we’re going to need Ware to improve, Niko to figure out a role, JJJ to try to get back to rookie form while improving upon that form, and Kaz to get his feet wet in the NBA. If we were to sign Kuminga and he became a revelation here, then maybe we can cut it by a season, but doubtful.
Maybe, will see. Still, that Kuminga guy doesnt seems to me the right player for Heat.
His age and potential offensive profile aligns, but I do think there could be questions on if he’s a Heat guy.
You make a lot of sense here. We do probably need to show patience even when it’s not easy to.
How I see it is the Heat opted for the best player available instead of a needs based acquisition. Pat Riley GM’s sometimes like Phil Mickelson plays golf, attack the hole, never lay up. So he went for a player who may have Austin Reaves type potential. The pick fell into his lap and he couldn’t help himself. But, Austin Reaves are rare, so rare that I am still shocked he is as good as he is.
For me, it’s an exciting pick but a low percentage move. My Rasheer Fleming idea, that Ware and he could be twin towers a la Cleveland, was better because he still would have a good chance of filling a need as a quality backup. Or, the three two way wings HHH advocated for, the day before the draft. We have a few, very few, two way players. We definitely need more.
That fully explains where I’m coming from. Maybe this guy will be an A to A- player and we will all be thrilled. But, it’s a big swing. The other side of the coin is everything at twenty is a crapshoot anyway, so why not go for it. Only time will tell.
I m expecting a lot of up and down next year, wild victories and terrible looses, I doubt they will collect more then 35 wins.
But I m fine with it, as long young players will play.
I was thinking that Heat will try to find a quality point guard on market, but top tier are all stars and not available, and second and third tier are those with serious flaws, often injured and too expensive.
So this move makes sense only in case, that you need to train your own point guard of the future. It will take a lot of time, but ok, Heat decided, that this is the right way forward. If anything, I have trust in their scouting, so I m exited.
I am 100% fine with anyone not being thrilled with the pick. It caught me off guard with Fleming, Clifford, Powell, and Richardson, amongst others, available. I thought maybe they picked him for another team we will be trading with. But you wrote:
*there are definitely players we could have gotten that seem, at least in my mind, to address those needs better.*
So far you picked one of my favs for size, athleticism, shooting, in Fleming who I saw as backup c/pf. Anyone else since you indicated others?
Again, I agree, we don’t know. For every Rose and Maxey, there is a Beasley or Winslow (with apologies to Heat community).
golden was really good when fau went to final 4.
Received one of the two-ways, so they think so as well.
Gotta love a guy with a last name Dainja 😆.
