GAME PREVIEW: Surging Heat continue homestand with hosting Wizards

Winners of eight of their last 10 games and five straight, the Heat look to keep the momentum going as they host the tanking Wizards.

The Miami Heat will resume their homestand on Tuesday evening in a matchup against the tanking 16-47 Washington Wizards. This recent home stretch will conclude with seven of the Heat’s last eight games on inside Kaseya Center, where Miami sports a 21-11 record.

This will be the first time the Heat face Trae Young in a Wizards jersey, since his trade deadline arrival in Washington from the Atlanta Hawks.

The Heat are clicking at the right time, with just 17 games remaining until the playoffs. They are riding a five-game win streak and 8 of their last 10 overall. Led by the Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo duo, they have closed the gap to avoid a potential fourth straight year ending up in the play-in tournament. Miami is tied for the sixth seed, with the Orlando Magic owning the tie breaker, at a 36-29 overall record.

There is a very real possibility of not only the Heat avoiding the play-in, but finding a way to secure a top-five seed. The Toronto Raptors have dipped recently, limping to just 5-5 overall in their last 10. Miami is only 1.0 game trailing of Toronto’s fifth seed. The Heat’s remaining schedule has some difficult matchups left to take care of, but they have proven they are capable of beating any team.

The team’s previous win versus the Detroit Pistons added to a surprisingly long list of signature wins this season. They already have a win against the West’s top seed and reigning champion OKC Thunder— and now two wins versus the East’s top seed Detroit under their belt.

This should be a chance to watch some other players shine. Hope a bunch of different guys get minutes and we still do well.

So, Ware is out and Herro has a quad problem and is questionable. Nonetheless, this must be a win. Simone is back and probably will get playing time. Keshad has returned from the G League, so may get a few minutes. Gardner should get big minutes. Maybe even a Vlad sighting.

Vlad can get some minutes behind Bam. Great, lets see what he is capable of.

Miami needs to win all of it’s remaining games against sub .500 teams and split the others. If they do, they’ll be ok.

Can’t afford to drop more games that they should win. They’ve done it too many times already for me to ever be confident, but their play of late is very encouraging.

Win those 2 games and they will be on a 7 game winning streak when Orlando comes in. Take care of business and they will be in sole possession of 6th, and possibly even 5th.

Both can be used in the right context. “Who is going besides you and me?” is correct.

Proceed slowly. Start with these phrases:

  • “The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain.”
  • “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream”

Then proceed to more difficult ones, such as:

  • “She sells seashells by the seashore”
  • “How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?”
